Some of the days, when you think about it really have the markings of a good day. As against the bad days. Of late the bad days have outnumbered the potential good days by a wide margin. It got me thinking – what are the factors that make for a good day.
- Good weather – today for example started out, in stark contrast with the last few days, as a great weather day. Now that thought may be relative but I hate hot sunny days and prefer the weather to be cool, cloudy and maybe a drizzle now and then. And this is the perfect day come to think of it.
- Low traffic – now there’s a million dollar prayer from where I stand. But, as it turns out today, by the grace of Lord Ganesha (literally, it being the week of the Ganesha festivities and most people taking an extended weekend), I got to office in 20 minutes; quite a miracle compared to the hour and a quarter on the bad days (which can well be a regular day).
- Friday – by itself the thought of the weekend ahead can be extremely uplifting to the spirits. Two days worth of doing nothing constructive can be very enticing and exciting, and definitely a catalyst for bettering a day of any disaster.
- Low voice traffic – this one probably is specific to my line of work but a day that promises to keep me talking to people for less than a couple of hours is definitely a pretty good day
- Promise of good food to close the day – is definitely the one thing that can take a day to sublime levels of happiness. I am a foodie and some recipes I can have almost everyday; and the though of it coming my way keeps me pretty happy all day
- Finishing a good book – can be very elevating. I remember the day when I finished the Odessa Files in a day and it makes me sad to say that I can probably not do it any longer. No time; no focus (or too many things to focus on); the excuses are a dime a dozen, The fact of the matter is that a good day is definitely one where I can make time for the reading a book.
- No conflicts – a rarity in my life but a day where there are no conflicts to solve or work around is an excellent indicator of a great day.
All in all, a day that does not tax the mind and provides plenty of time to be lazy by choice is today. A very good day.
