“Where can you get the best finger-licking Indian food in Britain? After several cities prepared elaborate binds over months, a competition to adjudge the Curry Capital of Britain 2010 has zeroed in on Glasgow, beating stiff competition from Bradford, Leicester, Birmingham and Wolverhampton.” It is quite amazing that there is a competition like the Curry Capital of Britain that is judged by 13 experienced judges from all round the country. This even apparently started in Brick Lane in UK but as taken a massive turn of popularity.
Way to go Indian Curry!!
While on the subject, there is another interesting website that I found. I have personally been asked very often, by the lesser gastronomically inclined, about the meaning of the names you see in an Indian menu card. This especially in the US where Chicken Tikka Masala and Vindaloo Curry seems to be the quintessential core of India food paradise. Well, here is some education in for those who would like to be or at least pretend to be knowledgeable the next time you are out to an Indian restaurant.
One excerpt was particularly interesting and I think is misunderstood by even most Indians – Vindaloo. Has nothing to do with aloo (potato); Vindaloo originated from Vindalho which is derived from vinho or wine (vin is French so that is not the right word) and alho which is garlic.
